Slip Form Concrete

Slip forming is a construction technique that forms a structure using a moving form that continually receives fresh concrete at the top extruding the finished form of the structure from the bottom using a hydraulic jacking system.

Used as a significant time and cost saving method, this system requires a specialized mix with controlled slump and setting time characteristics. Timed deliveries are also critical to this method. This type of construction is often used to construct water cooling towers and central elevator shafts. It may also be used to form concrete barriers and pavements on highway projects.
